Dreams can come true, if you’ve the courage to pursue them. Look at our Paralympians and what they’ve achieved – no excuses there then?
It’s September already – where does the time go? What action are you going to take now that the summer holidays are over and the schools have gone back. This is the time when it’s normal to think about new learnings or new beginnings, either to while away the winter, have new experiences or start to fulfil your dreams.
But when there is no action or steps towards this, somewhere there is fear is behind your inaction. Our old favourite fear, and its secondary feeling of helplessness, stops you. Previous negative experiences cause you to develop the fear of failure that starts the cycle. As an adult, if put in a situation that seems similar, fear strikes and causes inaction. Because you don’t act, you don’t gain personal experience in that situation which is the key to learning and overcoming future obstacles. It breeds an inability to handle similar situations which feeds and increases the fear. The longer it remains unchecked, the harder it is to break the cycle. You get into a rut and, I’ve read somewhere that this can be another word for a shallow grave. Who wants to get into that?
You also know by now that failure is an inside job, the same as success. So if you want to achieve (and it doesn’t have to mean an Olympics Gold Medal!), you have to win the battle in your thinking first. Remember when you imagine the worst, you create the emotion of worry. But when you imagine the best, you create the emotion of Hope. This is what makes life bearable for all of us. And this is what keeps your spirits alive.
I look forward to you letting me know how you are keeping your spirit shining for us all to see. And also what course you are signing up for.
