This might seem an unusual title for my Blog and I trust you will stick with it though!
I only really have Rossi’s ice cream nowadays having lived here in the Southend area of Essex that sells it. It is delicious – whether you buy a cone, a wafer, a nougat or an oyster. My taste buds are going all ready as I am writing this!
What does it remind me of (other than its deliciousness) –
- It’s the nearest ice cream to the Scottish/Italian ice cream I know (and I can hear you all screaming already that you have similar in your area!!!)
- My childhood growing up in Glasgow and the old style Ice Cream Parlours where it was the Italians who made the ice cream I’ve mentioned above, and Sundaes, Banana Splits, Knickerbocker Glories, put Raspberry or Strawberry Sauce on top with anything else they could think of
- Being with any member of my family and having a treat
- Having the time and space to enjoy eating ice cream
- Having a treat
- Being with girlfriends and gossiping
- Being in Millport on the River Clyde and walking along licking an ice cream cone
Being
As you’ll have become aware, I am talking about the time when you could simply be and there were none of life’s pressures as there are now.
Oh, the joy of simply being and focussing on the pleasure of simply enjoying my ice cream even today!
You and Overwhelm
Over to you now. How do you give yourself the simplest of pleasure of enjoyment – of taking time out from the hurly-burly of your life? (And remember that also includes the boredom or lack of being stretched) You see, I am talking here about those times – even moments – when you are able to step back from whatever is overwhelming you – even those good happenings too.
Meditation
For me, ‘being with your ice cream’ is like a form of meditation as it has taken you out of yourself. I could list all the things that can be like meditating for me (maybe not for you) and I would love to hear from you what you find enable you to step out of your overwhelm. I know for me that Rossi’s ice cream does it every time!!
Stop and take stock
As a professional I would say that it may also be time to stop and take stock of your life in order to see where this feeling of overwhelm is coming from and how it impacts on you. You may discover that the reality is that you are simply doing too much and not doing what you want to do or including your power of saying ‘No’.
I look forward to hearing from you.

They say that it is like ‘coming home to themselves’ – contact me if this is what you want too.
