Fear holds us back like nothing else.
It’s so hard to root out because it’s so pervasive in our lives – work, relationships, self-image – just in life! We feel we’re being judged by all those around us – strangers as well as friends.
In the psychosynthesis (transpersonal) model which I trained and teach in, the way to use our fear is to make a friend of it by including it and acknowledging its presence. One way that works for me, is by telling my fear that I know it’s been there for a good reason in the past but that this is a different situation now. I also ask it what it needs from me and what it has to offer me.
This could be seen as a negotiation. I’m also suggesting that you don’t trust your impulse to act quickly when you feel driven by fear in those moments of decision making. You could ask and breathe into your heart while considering your options.
Don’t let your fear reduce those big dreams you have, or accept less because you’re afraid you can’t do more. Exercise your courage muscle each and every day in small ways – moving out of your habitual ways. You’ll be so proud of yourself as you build this muscle up. I know it’s not always easy but you CAN do it.
Come and join me on the merry-go-round of life. As is said, face your fear and do it anyway. Jump.
Enjoy the ride – scream, shout, laugh, and cry – excitement and fear are two sides of the same coin – welcome onboard!
