So less than one week to go!
How are you coping with it all? ‘It’ being the run-up to Christmas and all the celebrations involved in a quiet or loud way or anything in between.
Bernard Levin
I’m going to paraphrase something that I read many years ago by Bernard Levin –
‘We have all of the material comforts we could have, yet lead lives of quiet (and at times noisy) desperation, understanding nothing except that there is a hole inside that, however much food and drink we pour into ourselves, however many belongings we stuff it with, and however many well-balanced children and support we have around the edges of that hole…… we ache inside’
No Pretence
I know this is not a cheery start to the Festive Season, and it may be an honest start when those of you who feel like this, can acknowledge it to yourselves. There is no pretence and when you have the courage to own your inner reality then change can happen.
Inner Life
It is not easy, I know and it is important that you give yourself space and time for your inner life, particularly as we come to the end of 2014.
When you give yourself the space to re-connect with your deeper passion, motivation and wisdom, you will see that your first responsibility is for your own well-being and then you can be fully available to others.
I have seen just how many women, who have not listened to their own inner needs and given space to re-connect with themselves, seem to have lost the art of genuinely responding to others. They appear to be on automatic pilot, going through the motions, listening to everyone else’s requests of them – family, friends, neighbours, strangers – anyone!! Even the Seasonal norms. They don’t allow that inner listening to that ache inside.
Biggest Gift
Stopping, pausing, listening, allowing out whatever the ache is telling you, gives you a deep knowing of your Soul. This inner awareness is how you maintain a sense of Self. And being connected with yourself is the biggest gift you can give to others.
Why?
Quite simply – the more connected you are to yourself, the more you can connect with others in your life. You are free to come from YOU.
I would like to leave you with one thing and that is – being alive is the biggest miracle of all. Come from that place and you will ease your ache, and fully love your Celebration of Life at this wonderful Season.
Enjoy xx
Such touchy words! Thank you so much, Irene <3
I love that you’ve made your comment, MC, and I know we’re in tune with a few things xx
So true Irene. You can only connect from your soul – soul to soul.
When we are lucky, Judy, that is the truth – thank you for taking the time to comment xx
