I’ve just been speaking to my neighbours over the fence as we’re out doing the gardens on such a beautiful sunny day. This was after a relaxing meal followed by sitting down at the seafront watching the world go by.
It’s amazing what the sun does for us all (especially after the miserable weather we’ve been having here in the UK) as we can smile, say hello or like me, chat to the neighbours over the fence.
You don’t have to make big changes (internally or externally) to have neighbourliness – simply by acknowledging how lucky we are to be alive is enough. You can then be free to validate yourself and others in your life.
Why don’t we automatically choose to do that? Because most of us have been taught to be small; wait until you’ve been spoken to; don’t make a fuss; don’t draw attention to yourself; or whatever it was for you when you were young.
Being small certainly doesn’t threaten people and that’s a fact. In fact, I’m saying to you that what you took on board back then was wrong. The more you are visible to yourself and others, the more you can shine and be free to enjoy having, and showing neighbourliness in your life to whoever you can, wherever you are.
Life is an adventure so give yourself the best gift you can and be open and celebrate it.
