Nowadays, it would seem that more women are having a mid-life crisis as life is not turning out the way you planned or thought it would. There is too big a discrepancy between how it is and how it could be. This is my view on what may possibly be a cause of your mid-life crisis.
Questions and Answers
It is usually during your mid-life crisis that you increasingly begin to realise the awesome heights and depths of your existence. Life is changing and you are unable to get any answers to the questions that are buzzing away in your head – ‘What is life all about? Is this all there is? What is my Purpose? Why do I feel there is something more?
Therapy and Spiritual Development
It is important that you know that if you choose to go into therapy that it’s not simply to ‘work on any problems’ you may have. It is also about your own spiritual development. It is about you attempting to clarify and get in touch with those things that you care most deeply about. Somewhere you also know the answers are inside you and you need the space to re-connect again.
Call
These questions are calling you to turn and face yourself. This can be understood as a call from your higher or spiritual Self towards wholeness and your creative potential. It would be about you including the wholeness of what life might be for you – the bigger picture of body, feelings, mind and spirit. And also the Both-And not the either-or!
Coming home to yourself
In psychosynthesis, a holistic, integrative and psychospiritual approach that I trained and taught in, includes exploring the spiritual dimension. I hold spiritual development as a normal part of your therapy. And as you re-connect or align with yourself, the unease and searching you have been experiencing may be seen as ‘coming home to yourself’.
