LAUGHING ON THE OUTSIDE, WHILE CRYING ON THE INSIDE
I was given a gift of a Mask made by a lovely friend of mine. He gave it to me because I mentioned at a talk that I worked with those who were ‘Laughing on the outside, while Crying on the inside’.
THE TRACKS OF MY TEARS
The mask is a thing of beauty. Half of the mask says – ‘So take a good look at my face, you’ll see my smile looks out of place. If you look closer, it’s easy to trace the tracks of my tears’. And the other half says – ‘People say I’m the life of the party ‘cause I tell a joke or two. Although I might be laughing loud and hearty, deep inside I’m blue’. (Lyrics from The Tracks of my Tears).
The words relate to the women I work with – those strong, driven and successful women who always have to keep up the front of their success to the world in whatever form that is. It applies to those who cannot allow their vulnerability to be seen. So they keep on striving to live up to something that they no longer know why or what or anything else. Only that it is imperative to keep the mask on!!!
ASKING FOR HELP
I know I keep saying this and It is important for us as women (and men too) to know that we can be strong and able whilst not being afraid to be seen as weak if we allow our vulnerability to be there. And to be able to say, I can do this and this and this AND I need help with this, that and the other.
SHARE OUR SHIT AND SHINE
It is so time for this to happen in the world with the spotlight being on not being afraid, and truth coming out instead of it being denied and hidden away.
It is so time for us all to ‘share our shit and shine’ – by that to allow our vulnerability, pain, fear and self-doubt as well as our accomplishments, resilience and awesomeness to be seen, acknowledged and accepted by ourselves and others.
We then will then be able, and happy to say – ‘I am comfortable in my own shoes and I love myself’.
Very true post, I love your use of headers. Shit and Shine is not something seen in a header before. But such a true post, thanks for sharing
Thank you Sean for your comment, and no I don’t think I’ve seen a header quite like it x
