For me, it is important not to make ourselves look any older than we actually are. There are enough things in life that already contribute to this e.g. when you are going through stressful times. And most importantly, the ageing process itself can take its toll on our physical body never mind anything else!
So here are my suggestions:
Stand tall – a bent over posture can make you look older. Also when you do this, it says to the world that you are confident and can be visible to the world. I’ll bring in Exercise here too, as you need to move as much as you can to keep everything flexible!
Make-up – outdated and too much of it can show up our lines and blemishes more. See www.Fabafterfifty.com for their make-up suggestions.
Wearing dresses/tops with some kind of sleeve – this stops our bingo wings from being on show! My granddaughter flaps away at mine when I’ve my pyjamas on!! All good for my self-esteem – I don’t think!
A decent Hair cut – nothing much can be done with my curly ‘go its own way’ hair (tried many different experts) but I always make sure I get a good cut. Be a devil and try different styles and even colour and then choose what’s right for you – go on, dare you!
A decent fitting Bra – there’s nothing worse than seeing photos of yourself and your boobs are just slouched somewhere – I know, and it’s frightening! Use the free fitting experts that are available in many stores, and do it more than once!
Drink plenty of water throughout the day – this is a must. You can put lemon or lime in it to boost it up. Not any of your alcoholic drinks, I hear you say? That’s a No from me!
Finally – SMILE. It’s amazing how many muscles you use doing this and you will look younger.
Love to hear what your secrets are, as we more mature women, need to support one another.
