What does being alive mean for you?
When you were little, were you told to look for the rainbow and that there was a pot of gold at the end of it? I was.
It kind of sums up what being alive means for me – choosing to live life.
Life is a rainbow for me with lots of colour (think of the song – Red and Yellow and Pink and Green, Orange and Purple and Blue ……… ) and it comes after a shower or a heavy downpour. Yes, I know that sometimes you have to look very hard for it and oh, how delightful and heart warming when you do see one. Well, I certainly love it when it happens.
You can have many down times and even depressive times in life. And when you can glimpse the colour, you will know that you are through the darkest even if it has taken longer than you wanted.
I saw this by A Native American:
‘The tragedy of life isn’t death but what we let die inside of us’
This is what can happen if you truly don’t choose to allow yourself to really be in life. When that happens, you wither and that internal spark slowly goes out too because of that loss of connection with yourself.
My personal philosophy which informs my work with women is – ‘BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE’ – and I can tell you that my flame is well and truly lit.
What about you? Have you settled for second best – the greyness of life? Or is your spark well and truly alight?
I have definitely chosen Life. Love that quote and your personal philosophy.
Really pleased, Linda, that you are out there, and thanks for your kind words. I’ll have a look at your website too x
Had a look and, of course, you are the brilliant photographer x
I like your use of acronyms with L.I.F.E. and D.E.A.T.H. They reinforce the emotions involved.
Can’t get that song out of my head….lol
I know, Shan, it can be such a nuisance when a song sticks and comes out at any old time – have a good weekend x
I like the smell and sound of ‘glimpse the colour’ – and to be able to see colour there needs to be light…
Thanks for commenting, Patricia, and although I agree with what you say mainly – there doesn’t always have to be light. For me, it is about being willing to hold your head up and look for a glimpse of the rainbow (colour) when you are in the greyness of life. x
