Maybe as you watch all our Olympic competitors striving to do their very best, you’ll be thrilled with all their efforts. I know I am. However, there may be a little voice inside you that’s saying, “It’s too late for me to do anything – to give my best”. It may also be saying “this is just who I am and I might as well give up on my dreams as I’m too old to change”.
I’m saying that it’s not the time to give up and settle into your rut. It’s quite the opposite. Now is the time to take a stand for your own potential once and for all. Be inspired by all you’ve seen with the endeavours of all of those Olympic competitors of varying ages.
You may never be an Olympic competitor but that doesn’t mean that you sink into resignation at midlife – the new midlife is a call of the soul. It’s your second chance. This is when it can be acknowledged that you want another kind of life – for yourself and the world – and the hunger to find it becomes more intense as you grow older.
I encourage you to do, and be the best you can be for your own sake, and then others can wave the flag, shout and cheer you on as you take your confidence in both hands and go for Gold!
I’ll be doing that for you too.
