It was Mother’s Day here in the UK at the weekend, when it can be the enforced bunch of flowers and a card if you’re lucky, or it could be a lovely meal out with your family enjoying good food, wine, chat, laughter and a warm, holding atmosphere. But of course, there can be a wide variation in between.
What about those with no children to honour them, and no longer a mother to honour?
You can honour yourself. Not much is needed to honour yourself. It’s simple and everyone can do it. Bring out those warm and / or funny memories that make you smile. Enjoy them as they are stored in your memory bank. And let that smile brighten up your (and everyone around you) day.
Take the time and listen to yourself. You might want to include the sadness about how your day is, if it’s not how you want it to be. Then you can check out how you would like it to be different. You might want to consider how you can be pampered, taken care of or be willing to try out something different. Then go and do it.
All of the above will positively affect you on a personal level. So whatever is in your heart, find what it is that suits you best and, through that connection with yourself, you will inspire, empower and enrich your own life.
Remember, each of us has a part to play in our own life and in our collective future. Don’t sit and moan, do something about it!
